Barack Obama – Hope Zings Eternal

©  Helena Lind · Filed Under Features · Add your comment

Opinions and more split at Barack Obama.
Some think that he is just a phrase basher, a well trained actor or rather empty PR shell.

Others though (increasingly) find him inspiring, reassuring, sign, seal and deliverer of a fresh start for the USA.
Obama comes over as a real Zinger offering a Phoenix’ rise out of the troubled and somewhat rocked ashes of Bushs’ America.

Sometimes change for the sake of change alone can appear ever so vital.
And Obama spells C H A N G E , Hillary Clinton, Mike Huckabee and John McCain don’t.

Obama is well groomed hope made flesh and them others kinda stiff and stale political experience plus ginourmous aspiration.

Barack is as tasty as a screenwriter’s script idea of a US presidential role model like Dennis Haysbert as the lovely President David Palmer in the acclaimed television series 24.

Obama youthfully inspires whereas Clinton sometimes chills.

What will happen to the brave John McCain whose slightly tired appearance and somewhat dated war-hero-bravado might not help much win the battle for the White House?

Can anyone win against Obama – the apparition if not epiphany of goodness so cleverly packaged by absolute professionals?

Could Obama yet be a touch too good to be true?

The proof of any pudding is in the eating, even for the Barack Obama roadshow.

An American president in nowadays times especially needs stamina and substance as well as looking and sounding the part to be taken serious by his political peers, the ever more powerful lobbyista and the international community.

But can Obama deliver? Or rather, will he be allowed to act as he promises?

Obama pledged to remove troops from Iraq within the first year of his presidency.
Also it does not seem likely for him wanting to wage war on Iran.
So would he be nice to the charming Mr. Ahmadineshad and Co., relying on diplomacy and good will alone?

His first big dilemma might then start with the state of Israel.

Right now nobody knows what will be going on in Pakistan and across the border. President General Musharraf might not have the smouldering looks of Bollywood mega star
Shahrukh Khan…if so he would have been re-elected by a smashing majority…
Or the martyr image and charisma of the sadly late Ms Bhutto…

But one should not forget that the little man with the bi-colour hair was and in my opinion will be the only guarantee for at least some stability and working control factor in Pakistan and beyond. The new bunch will have to live up to a lot actually.

Because more destabilisation of the middle-east and adjourning regions and debilitation of democratic movements must be expected.

I am not even mentioning the growing economic problems in the USA.

Can Obama face all of this and more on the wings of hope alone?

I believe that he himself will often ask himself perhaps bewildered “what to do if I win?”

But one thing is for sure.
PR phrasing or no, the world cannot do without hope, not at all.
Without hope there is just nothingness.

Experienced I think by many Americans in the years since 9/11 if not much longer.

And that is where Obama comes in.

He is a sign of the times and at least proves how much how many people long for “America re-loaded” but in a nice way.

Also Obama is promoting a lot of the message of MIZPAH.

That too is why I wish him luck and a very good team of advisors.
