Dance to the Music of Time
Oh yes, one
might very well think that we are all stuck in an endless quagmire
of downturn and bad news but let us think again.
Rather than adding to most of the nowadays media stories by emphasizing how terrible the problem is I like to point into some direction of solution.
How to survive and develop, how to make yourself feel better.
If it all really hits you and you believe that you have it oh so bad do this: switch on the news, watch and listen a few minutes to never ending reports about brutality, genocide, true poverty, [Read more]

A Quantum of Hope
Well done here
he is – America’s own sweet natured James Bond of Goodness with a license to
feel!
The quantum of solace and hope for a shaken AND stirred great nation.
And this amazing young man proved that really everything is possible for the right person and that well executed PR is still worth multi-millions.
But apart from all the lovelyness – will he also execute his new license to
grill?
Will he allow to find out as to what exactly went wrong during the
Bush Administration and especially what really happened around [Read

Hope is Golden
Hope is light!
Misery like dragging lead.
So destructive.
And
so bad.
I want hope and light and both golden please.
Clearly I have enough.
After at least 12 months of bland denial and
neglect of duties by those who have known all along we are now hyped almost
systematically into even more worries?
The scaremongering is as bad as the
denial.
We are all in it and the only way to go is forward and that’s what I am
doing.
We have to somehow plod our way through with a smile as best as we can
and where possible double our efforts to make [Read more]

Credit Crackers love Gitmo
While
confidence is eroding once more in the face of lovely deeds of so many kindly
governments I am beginning to think again about this crisis and it’s
origins.
It is a crisis on more than one level and has more than one root
cause.
I am a peace loving creature.
But the deeper I dive into this mess
the more I could get started on being not quite so peace loving for a
bit.
Let me begin with a little story:
There is this little guy who
recently had to fold his little company.
He always was as decent as the next
man in his business [Read

I’m a crook – bail me out of here
So the
American government propped up the feathery pillows for AIG and gave them a
generous helping of tax payer’s money to avoid them doing a Lehman Brothers
pirouette too.
AIG insured those horrid financial products that lead to the mess we are in now.
Financial products from hell, created by hired guns of all scientific faculties except financial specialists.
Because any small town bookkeeper would have seen through the lousy schemes?
Great, no? Can’t wait until the inside stories are coming to light. I think [Read more]

UK: Country in Crisis – Chance for Change?
Even though
the more upbeat data coming out of the USA last week and oil prices are behaving
a little more tamed after the recent hike, Great Britain’s Chancellor Alistair
Darling feels inclined to give a statement claiming that the UK is going for the
worst economic crisis in 60 years.
Robot-like he repeated his mantra in an interview with the BBC that due to the unique set of circumstances in the shape and form of that combination of a credit crunch and high food and oil prices Old Blighty is in for tough times.
Eyes blinking nervously [Read more]

Pimp my Pipeline!
In our day and
age waging war seems to be such a stupid and offensive way to make a
point.
Yet it ain’t to some.
Seeing the pictures from Georgia and surroundings the notion that this has been just an act of rather spontaneous escalation of ongoing frictions seems unbelievable.
Questions spring up :
WHY? Just because of the very long term separatist movement problem in South
Ossetia? Erm….
WHY NOW? While the Olympics and all keep the world
occupied?
WHATEVER FOR? Protection? Independence? Freedom? Human rights? Or
rather [Read more]

Hasta La Vista, Trans Fat!
California’s Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a new law to
terminate trans fats in restaurants come 2010 and for all baked goods sold from
2011.
He declared: “Consuming trans fat is linked to coronary heart
disease, and today we are taking a strong step toward creating a healthier
future for California.”
New York and Oregon did it too by now
finally banning trans fat laced food even from sale in shops.
But
Arnie is the first to pass a law!
Well done.
There is this guy
from Austria who never belonged to any [Read

Stop the Gloom – Go Boom!
Do not get too
comfortable in this doom and gloom scenario. Anyway do not take pleasure by
making things worse than they are raving in bad news from banks and markets as
that pleasure might be short and not what you want at the end of the
day.
And there is another old adage:
“whence down in the valley
all around ye is pointing uphill”… Or so…
This valley of subprime
crisis, credit crunch, banks faltering and squeezed customers failing their
payments is not going to be perpetual.
We tend to forget that all is an
eternal cycle of change. When we’re up there [Read

Is Nuclear Energy the Future?
OK, it’s
official – Oil, Gas & Co. prices are skyrocketing.
But there is
a double effect to the current energy price hikes -and it may begin to endear
Nuclear Power generated energy to consumers all over the world.
Not
for nothing there is an old adage on which right now many folks in high
positions of power plant producers and governments will build their expectations
on before they give the nod to go ahead.
“First comes grub then
comes morality.”
Or rather ” First comes cash then comes [Read
