Is Nuclear Energy the Future?

©  Helena Lind · Filed Under Features · Add your comment

Nuclear PowerOK, it’s official – Oil, Gas & Co. prices are skyrocketing.

But there is a double effect to the current energy price hikes -and it may begin to endear Nuclear Power generated energy to consumers all over the world.

Not for nothing there is an old adage on which right now many folks in high positions of power plant producers and governments will build their expectations on before they give the nod to go ahead.

“First comes grub then comes morality.”

Or rather ” First comes cash then comes conscience” ???

Lots of Nuclear Power Programs are springing up worldwide and Toshiba, apparently the biggest plant builder on the planet (did you know that?) is planning at least 25 brand new power stations for Japan in the near future.

While consumers having to cough up more and more money to pay for their mobility and heating, slowly the thought of good old nuke reactors will be spoon fed by governmental PR.

Wanna bet?

This is the chance they have been waiting for.

Cometh the time cometh the slime.

Finally they may now righteously claim to be on the peoples side and to offer ailing customers much more affordable energy. Straight in the face of any protest.

The topic is in the air wherever you look or listen.

More and more energy experts announce of late that nuclear power is the most environmentally benign and cost-effective method to generating large amounts of electricity and help to alleviate global climate pressure.

And what of the risks?

Do we really have to think in that direction and accept some peoples wishful thinking lying down?

Yes, if we are unwilling to change and only want to carry on as we did so far.

No if we understand where to say no in the future and be consequent more often.

We do not have to buy anything we see mostly knowing that we do not need or want it anyway? We do not have to go on holidays two or even three times a year or use electricity in our homes as if there’s no tomorrow?
Moderation would be a good concept around the globe.
Always was and always will be.

We could start to think more of old world values for tomorrow.
We could begin to feel more freedom.

A good mix of energy sources would be a good idea. There are so many options. Where there is no alternative nuclear power might have to be the choice.

Best though would be to consume far less.
It’s so easy. I’ve tried – not too hard mind you – and it reduced the outgoing energy bills by nearly 25%…

What do you think?

There are so many other options than nuclear energy. Offshore wind farms and tidal power could produce most of the power we need, where is the investment in those sorts of energy?

Interesting how much freedom there is actually in your suggestion to live differently. Good point.

3rd time trying to leave a comment re. author’s observation that “food for fuel is a stupid idea”. Once gain right there where the truth is hidden. Today it is all the rage where she touched the nerve long before.
    Compliments!
