Big in Japan

NEWS-US-JAPAN-ELECTION

The sad face of defeated PM Taro Aso is not there for no reason.
He’s just lost a landslide election.
Things are looking up in Japan as newly elected leader Yukio Hatoyama is transitioning to power.
The Nikkei rocketed and an almost Obama-esque feeling of hope is enveloping the land of the rising sun.
About time too.
Now there is a chance to leave behind the petrification of more than 5 decades under the Liberal Democratic Party.
And there are prospects of opening up to a more modern, less male dominated state and welfare system for the legions of unemployed and impoverished Japanese people.
A promising outlook is also beckoning for more cooperation with China.
Hatoyama’s political motto is that of his grandfather: yuai – meaning fraternalism.
Badly needed.
And about time too.
Welcome to the 21st century and looking forward to Japan’s incarnation.

With national elections coming up in Europe later this year and early next, it will be interesting to see whether other incumbant governments are swept aside by the electorate, as has happened to the Liberal Democrats in Japan…

General elections soon in Germany and the last thing the intl. political community wants is a slide to the left there.
How would they manage if not badly?
